Evaluación Del Estado De Aplicación De Las Estrategias De Conservación Implementadas En Colombia Para La Protección Del Mono Titi Cabeciblanco (Saguinus oedipus)

Abstract

Saguinus oedipus es un primate endémico de la costa norte de Colombia, en la actualidad se encuentra en la categoría peligro de extinción según la lista roja de IUCN debido a diversas causas antropogénicas, que es su principal hábitat. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar el estado del arte de conservación de S. oedipus en Colombia incluyendo su descripción, hábitos y costumbres, y una reflexión acerca de las principales amenazas que sufre y que lo han llevado a estar catalogado en peligro de extinción. Para lograrlo se realizó una revisión del conocimiento actual sobre S. oedipus, un análisis de la relación causa y efecto de las principales amenazas sobre S. oedipus y la evaluación de las estrategias de conservación mejor implementadas en Colombia para la conservación de la especie por medio de la recopilación de información secundaria y entrevistas con expertos en el tema. Como principal hallazgo se destaca que las actividades relacionadas con el uso del suelo como: la ampliación de la frontera urbanística, la ganadería, agricultura intensiva, la minería, la construcción de infraestructura, la quema y tala de árboles, el uso de árboles como combustible son los principales factores que han contribuido a la fragmentación del bosque seco tropical, principal hábitat de esta especie, a esto sumado a otros factores como: la quema de basuras en el bosque, la contaminación del agua por pesticidas y otros químicos usados por el hombre, la caza y tráfico ilegal contribuyen con el declive de la población de S. oedipus. Las principales estrategias de conservación en el país se han enfocado en la declaratoria de áreas protegidas para la protección del hábitat de S. oedipus, como es el bosque seco tropical, principalmente en los departamentos de Bolívar y Atlántico. o enormes esfuerzos para la protección de este primate endémico colombiano.

The main finding highlights that the activities related to land use such as: the expansion of the urban frontier, livestock, intensive agriculture, mining, construction of infrastructure, burning and cutting of trees, the use of trees as fuel These are the main factors that have contributed to the fragmentation of the tropical dry forest, the main habitat of this species, in addition to other factors such as: burning of garbage in the forest, water contamination by pesticides and other chemicals used by man. , hunting and illegal trafficking contribute to the decline of the S. oedipus population. The main conservation strategies in the country have focused on the declaration of protected areas for the protection of S. oedipus habitat, such as the tropical dry forest, mainly in the departments of Bolívar and Atlántico. or enormous efforts for the protection of this endemic Colombian primate.
