Comportamiento mecánico de mezclas asfálticas drenantes con agregados del río Chicamocha

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene como finalidad realizar un estudio del comportamiento mecánico de mezclas asfálticas drenantes, las cuales tienen buena permeabilidad, ya que posee un alto porcentaje de vacíos con aire en su estructura permitiendo el paso del agua, comparándolas con el comportamiento mecánico de las mezclas asfálticas convencionales, para así, indagar más a fondo acerca de sus propiedades. Por consecuencia, se realizaron 4 fases. En la fase 1, se realizó la caracterización de los agregados y del cemento asfáltico. En la fase 2, se elaboraron y fallaron el primer grupo de probetas convencionales tipo Marshall, tres por cada porcentaje (4%, 4.5%, 5%, 5.5% y 6%) con los cuales se estableció el porcentaje óptimo de asfalto 5.3%. En la fase 3, se elaboraron probetas drenantes tipo Marshall siguiendo el diseño especificado para el ensayo del cántabro (INV E 760-13), se usaron porcentajes (4.5%, 5%, 5.5%,6%,6.5% y 7%) con los cuales se estableció el porcentaje óptimo de asfalto 5.6%. Y por último en la fase 4, se fabricaron nuevas probetas con el porcentaje óptimo de cemento asfáltico encontrado en la fase 2 y fase 3, con el fin de comparar sus propiedades mecánicas (Estabilidad y Flujo), temperatura y verificar el cumplimiento de las especificaciones (% vacíos con aire, pérdida por desgaste, y permeabilidad) , de los ensayos ejecutados se puede determinar que las mezclas asfálticas convencionales presentan un mejor comportamiento frente a cargas de tránsito altas debido a que tienen más resistencia y menos deformación que las mezclas asfálticas drenantes.

The purpose of this work is to perform a study of the mechanical behavior of asphaltic drainage mixes, which have good permeability, since it has a high percentage of voids with air in its structure allowing the passage of water, comparing them with the mechanical behavior of conventional asphalt mixtures, in order to investigate more thoroughly about their properties. Consequently, 4 phases were performed. In phase 1, the characterization of aggregates and asphalt cement was carried out. In phase 2, the first group of conventional Marshall-type specimens were made and failed, three for each percentage (4%, 4.5%, 5%, 5.5% and 6%) with which the optimum percentage of asphalt 5.3% was established. In phase 3, draining samples were made Marshall type following the design specified for the trial of the Cantabrian (INV E 760-13), percentages were used (4.5%, 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5% and 7%) with which the optimum percentage of asphalt 5.6% was established. And finally in phase 4, new specimens were made with the optimum percentage of asphalt cement found in phase 2 and phase 3, in order to compare their mechanical properties (Stability and Flow), temperature and verify compliance with specifications (percentage of Air voids, loss by wear, and permeability), from the tests carried out, it can be determined that conventional asphalt mixes have a better performance against high traffic loads because they have more strength and less deformation than the draining asphalt mixes.
