Mejoramiento en los procesos de recolección y disposición final de los residuos sólidos llevados a cabo por la empresa de acueducto, alcantarillado y aseo de San Gil “Acuasan E.I.C.E – ESP”

Abstract

San Gil es la capital turística de Santander con 42.998 habitantes, de acuerdo al último censo reportado por el DANE. En el kilómetro 1 via al aeropuerto, está ubicada la empresa de Acueducto, Alcantarillado y Aseo de San Gil "ACUASAN E.I.C.E -ESP", creada en 1.991, en la cual la división de aseo se encarga de la recolección, transporte y disposición final de los residuos sólidos de todo el municipio, a su vez es la encargada del funcionamiento y mantenimiento del relleno sanitario ubicado en una Vereda del Municipio de San Gil. El objetivo de este proyecto es implementar acciones que mejoren los procesos de recolección y disposición final de residuos sólidos, llevado a cabo por ACUASAN, con el fin de lograr una eficiente prestación del servicio de aseo. Inicialmente, se realizó una campaña educativa de separación de residuos, para la cual se diseñaron plegables llamativos y entendibles para los usuarios. Posteriormente, se modificación las rutas de recolección, definiendo dos Macro rutas y en cada una de ellas se desprende tres Micro rutas, con una adicional para la zona comercial de San Gil. Al evaluar la campaña, fue notable la disminución en Ton/mes de residuos inertes e incremento del material aprovechable, tanto orgánico como redclable. Para el material aprovechable, ACUASAN E.I.C.E -ESP de San Gil, vinculó a dos empresas vigiladas y avaladas por la Superintendencia de Servicios Públicos, para que recibieran y transformaran, tanto los residuos orgánicos como los recidables. El proceso de educación ambiental duró cuatro meses aproximadamente. Adicionalmente, se hicieron modificaciones al reglamento interno para cumplir a cabalidad con la normatividad para un óptimo relleno sanitario. Finalmente, los beneficios del proceso de mejoramiento en el tema de residuos sólidos, son muchos, entre esos, la prolongación de la vida útil del relleno sanitario y evitar la contaminación al Río Fonce.

The environmental education process lasted approximately four months. Additionally, modifications were made to the internal regulations to comply fully with the regulations for an optimum sanitary landfill. Finally, the benefits of the process of improvement in the subject of solid waste, are many, among them, the extension of the useful life of the landfill and avoid contamination to the Fonce River.
