Correlación entre motivación y rendimiento académico en estudiantes de psicología de la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana Bucaramanga

Abstract

Esta investigación buscó determinar el índice de relación entre dos variables continuas: La motivación, medida por medio del cuestionario MOPI elaborado por Gámez y Marrero en el año (2000) y el rendimiento académico, asumido como el promedio de notas de las asignaturas propias de la carrera de Psicología de la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. La muestra fue de 65 estudiantes de la facultad de psicología, que realizaron el Cuestionario de Motivación para estudiar Psicología (MOPI) al ingresar a la UPB y que actualmente se encuentran activos. El instrumento empleado (MOPI) indaga las metas y motivos de los estudiantes al elegir la carrera de psicología. Se trabajó sobre cuatro aspectos que buscaban determinar las propiedades psicométricas del cuestionario MOPI en su aplicación en el contexto de la Universidad como son: confiabilidad, consistencia interna, grupos contrastados y validez. Los resultados obtenidos se organizaron y analizaron a través del programa estadístico SPSS 18. Se encontró que la correlación entre la motivación y el rendimiento académico no se reflejaron ni positiva ni negativamente frente al estudio realizado y no se evidenció ninguna diferencia, estadísticamente significativa, entre las dos aplicaciones realizadas (ingreso a la universidad y transcurso de la carrera) a los estudiantes y el promedio de notas. . Las motivaciones relacionadas con la escogencia de Psicología como campo de formación corresponden a los de tipo afiliativo y de conocimiento.

This investigation sought to determine the index of relation between two constant variables: The motivation measured by means of the questionnaire MOPI elaborated by Gámez and Marrero (2000) and the academic performance assumed as the average of notes of the own subjects of the career of Psychology of the University Pontificia Bolivariana. The sample belonged 65 students of the faculty of psychology, who realized the Questionnaire of Motivation to study Psychology (MOPI) on having deposited the UPB and who nowadays are active. The used instrument (MOPI) investigates the goals and motives of the students on having chosen the career of psychology. One worked on four aspects that were seeking to determine the properties psicométricas of the questionnaire MOPI in his application in the context of the University since they are: reliability, consistency hospitalizes, confirmed groups and validity. The obtained results were organized and analyzed across the statistical program SPSS 18. One thought that the correlation between the motivation and the academic performance they were not reflected not positive not negatively opposite to the realized study and no difference was demonstrated, statistically significant, between both applications realized (I enter to the university and course of the career) to the students and the average of notes.
