Por GEOPOLÍTICA se entiende, según Jorge Atencio, “…el estudio de la influencia de los factores geográficos en la vida y evolución de los estados, a fin de extraer conclusiones de carácter político. Sus fines son políticos y como teoría es interpretativa” (López S., Ignacio. Medellín, 1987, p.1).
