Formulación del sistema de gestión ambiental para el Hotel San Juan Internacional bajo los requisitos de la norma ISO 14001

Abstract

Actualmente la industria hotelera busca encaminarse hacia un modelo turístico sustentable en su dimensión económica, social y ambiental. Por tanto busca generar estrategias que ayuden a mitigar el impacto que su actividad económica genera, minimizar gastos, aumentar su productividad y alcanzar una mayor competitividad. El hotel San Juan de Girón Internacional está catalogado como el mejor hotel corporativo, vacacional y familiar de la cuidad, en el cual ofrecen no solo su servicio de hospedaje, piscina semi-olímpica, turco y spa, sino también los servicios prestados por el restaurante Doña Juana y el Bar Mi Viejo San Juan, para eventos sociales de tipo familiar o empresarial. Dentro de este documento se realiza la planificación del Sistema de Gestión Ambiental que inicia con un diagnóstico inicial para identificar cada uno de los proceso que se llevan a cabo dentro del hotel en cada una de sus áreas, a partir del cual se identifican los aspectos y se evalúan los impactos ambientales más significativos y la legislación colombiana que aplica a sus actividades. Posteriormente se planteó la política ambiental, los objetivos y las metas que son respaldadas por los programas formulados que contiene una serie de actividades a realizar, y así mitigar los impactos generados los recursos naturales. Lo anterior, con el fin de cumplir lo establecido en la NTC-ISO 14001. Adicionalmente se diseñan los procedimientos que permite mantener actualizado el Sistema de Gestión Ambiental. Nowadays the hotel industry tries to find the path towards a sustainable touristic model on its economic, social and environmental dimensions. Therefore this industry seeks to create strategy that helps to mitigate the impact that economic activity generate, minimize expenses, increase its productivity and reach a greater competitiveness. The San Juan International hotel rated us the best corporative holiday and family hotel of city; that not only counts with accommodation, Olympic swimming pool, and spa services, but also counts with restaurant and services offered by “Restaurante Doña Juana” and “El bar mi Viejo San Juan” for any type of social events such as family and business meeting. Throughout this document the Environmental Management System planning is explained in detail. It starts with initial diagnosis that seeks to identify each one of the process that are carried out inside the hotel in every single area. As from this diagnosis it can be identify each one of the aspects and environmental impact that are more important and the Colombian legislation that are related to its activities. Later on, an environmental policy was stated along with some specific goals which are supported by different programs that include a series of activities to reduce the impact and preserve the natural resources. All the mentioned before with the aim of fulfilling what is establishes on the NTC-ISO 14001. Additionally, several procedures when permit keeping the environmental management system updated were implemented.
