Abstract

The business internship is developed in the area of oil pipeline treatment, with the main objective of applying and optimizing non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques in the evaluation of the structural integrity of static equipment, such as pipelines, storage tanks, and pressure vessels. During the internship, inspections and analyses are performed using methods such as ultrasound, magnetic particles, and penetrant liquids, among others, to detect surface and subsurface defects, as well as to evaluate component thickness and potential areas of corrosion or cracks. This work contributes to ensuring operational safety, extending the life of equipment, and preventing failures that could generate environmental, economic, or safety risks. It also allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in a real industrial environment, strengthening their skills in mechanical integrity, failure analysis, and predictive maintenance. The internship is aligned with the training objectives of the Mechanical Engineer, integrating technical, analytical, and management skills in the context of the petroleum industry.
