Significado del diagnóstico de la enfermedad de Alzheimer en el cuidador informal

Abstract

La investigación tuvo un enfoque cualitativo de alcance descriptivo, basada en el diseño de la teoría fundamenta, la cual tenía como finalidad identificar el significado de la enfermedad de Alzheimer en el cuidador informal. Para adquirir la información, se llevó a cabo la aplicación de una entrevista semiestructurada dirigida a una muestra por conveniencia conformada por 81 sujetos que se desempeñaban como cuidadores informales de pacientes diagnosticados con la enfermedad de Alzheimer de la ciudad de Bucaramanga. De los resultados emergieron dos categorías de análisis, significaciones positivas y negativas del diagnóstico de la enfermedad de Alzheimer. En cuanto a las significaciones positivas, son construidas por el afecto hacia el familiar, permitiendo la aceptación y agrado del rol como cuidador, así como actitudes responsables, empáticas y solidarias hacia el paciente. Por otro lado las significaciones negativas abarcan principalmente la tristeza, desconcierto, preocupación y pérdida de tiempo libre a causa de la dependencia del paciente.

The research had a qualitative focus with a descriptive reach, based on the grounded theory design, which aimed to identify the meaning of the Alzheimer's disease on the informal caregivers. To gather the information, a semi-structured interview was applied to a sample of 81 subjects that were performing as informal caregivers of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's on Bucaramanga Colombia. From the results, two analysis categories emerged, positive and negative significations of the diagnosis. Positive significations are built by the affection felt for the relative, allowing a willingly acceptance for the caregiver role. As well as responsible, emphatic and solidary attitudes with the patient. In the other hand, negative significations mainly covers the sadness, confusion, concern and loss of spare time caused by the patient needs.
