La formación de ciudadanía: una perspectiva para abordar el cambio hoy en Colombia

Abstract

Este artículo se sitúa en el horizonte de sentido que visualiza las mayores dificultades de la sociedad colombiana, de manera relevante, en la incapacidad hasta hoy de construir el propio ordenamiento social con el estímulo continuo y la participación directa y comprometida de una vigorosa y consolidada sociedad civil, es decir, con el impulso de una ciudadanía interpelante y actuante, con capacidad de exigir la plena vigencia y aplicación de sus deberes constitucionalmente consagrados, de coadyuvar, mediante el ejercicio público de la razón y un sentido renovado de la política, en la ampliación y fortalecimiento de la democracia. This article is organized to center upon the major difficulties Colombian society has faced, in a very major way, in its inability up until now to build a proper social order with the continuous encouragement and the direct and committed participation of a very strong and vigorous civil society. To construct such a proper social order, Colombia needs the help of an active citizenry, one that has the capacity to demand it receive all the benefits they should under the basic rights citizens have. This active citizenry also needs to watch government officials to make sure they strictly fulfill the duties which they are constitutionally empowered to do. Theis active citizenry must also help build and strengthen this proper social order through the public exercise of its reason on issues and a renewed sense of political activity aimed at widening and strengthening this new spirit of democratic government.
