| spa |
dc.description.abstract | At present, countries from Eastern and Central Europe, Latin America, and other regions try to accomplish, at the same time, but with different degree of success, both democracy and economic freedom. In some cases, economic freedom has been blocked or has already ceased to have any priorities, which implies a great hindrance for democracy. This paper is focused on the analysis of the context of economic freedom in Latin America, from the second half of the 90s up to the current times, starting from a retrospective exercise on that context in past times. It has been, especially focused on countries such as Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, and Brazil, where economic freedom has been increasing; also, on those where it has experienced a notable descent: Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Argentina. | spa |
