Habitar: Una condición exclusivamente humana

Abstract

Al incursionar en el término habitar referido a lo humano nos encontramos básicamente con un problema de interpretación. Ésta, es el resultado de formulaciones teóricas y prácticas a partir de las cuales se hace todo tipo de asociaciones dando cabida a tantos enfoques como se quiera. La pérdida de sentido y de significado del término habitar, se refleja en la escasa reflexión sobre el tema llevándolo a una simple ocupación del espacio. Los aportes de diferentes autores dan a entender que el término habitar como tal no es claro y cuando se pretende utilizarlo en investigaciones o llevarlo a la práctica académica, se hace aún más notorio el desconocimiento de sus posibles aplicaciones. Las amplias definiciones de la palabra habitar sugieren el regreso a sus orígenes a fin de rescatar, desde allí, las intenciones para la cual fue propuesta. A partir de Heidegger, el tema del habitar humano se ha convertido en un estudio bastante controversial. Uno de los primeros señalamientos más destacables fue enseñado por primera vez en 1951 (Heidegger 1989:148-151) ante un foro de arquitectos, y aún genera todo tipo de discusiones. Posterior a ello se insiste en que el habitar es una profunda relación entre habitar y vivir.

Upon exploring the word dwelling in the human sense, we mainly come across an interpretation problem. This is the result of theoretical and practical formulations from which we may do all kinds of associations, allowing us to have as many approaches as we might wish. The loss of sense and meaning of the term dwelling is reflected on the limited reflection about the topic, taking it to a simple occupancy of the space. Different authors’ contributions imply that the term dwelling as such is indistinguishable and ignorance about its possible application is even more evident when we try to use it in research or include it in the academic practice. A broad definition of the word dwelling suggests us to go back to its origins and thence to rescue its initial proposed intentions. From Heidegger, the human dwelling matter has become a quite controversial study. One of the most remarkable lines of argument was taught for the first time in 1951 (Heidegger 1989:148 - 151) before an architecture forum and it is still it causing all kinds of debates. Subsequently, it is stressed that dwelling means a deep relationship between living in and inhabiting.
