Análisis del cubrimiento periodístico sobre el deportista santandereano en la sección deportiva de los periódicos Vanguardia Liberal y El Frente

Abstract

Este proyecto busca contemplar dos aspectos que se relacionan: el deporte y el periodismo regional. El objetivo principal fue determinar la manera como se efectúa esa cobertura periodística en los periódicos Vanguardia Liberal y El Frente, a partir del análisis de contenido, con el cual se pretendió identificar el cubrimiento sobre la actividad del deportista santandereano en los principales medios escritos regionales. Así, se identificó la frecuencia de aparición, los géneros periodísticos utilizados, la extensión de las notas y el abordaje de las fuentes de información, entre otros aspectos. Para ello, se diseñaron matrices de información con categorías y subcategorías que facilitaron el levantamiento de la información. El estudio se realizó durante el último cuatrimestre del año 2010 (septiembre, octubre, noviembre, diciembre). Con los resultados obtenidos se observó que el periódico que más cubrimiento le da a la actividad de los deportistas santandereanos es Vanguardia Liberal. El Frente, por su parte, da mayor prelación a la información de carácter internacional. Además, se identificó el género noticia como el más utilizado, mientras que los géneros interpretativos como la crónica o el reportaje fueron menos explorados en esa sección de los periódicos durante el periodo señalado. Cabe mencionar que el fútbol es considerado uno de los deportes más importantes, pero no el único susceptible de ser informado, pues hicieron su aparición en los medios analizados otras disciplinas, lo que se atribuye a la realización de eventos como Santander extremo, los juegos interuniversitarios y los intercolegiados infantiles nacionales que tuvieron lugar en Bucaramanga durante el periodo investigado. Este análisis permite vislumbrar la manera como se está realizando en cubrimiento deportivo en la ciudad, del cual surgen algunas recomendaciones para los medios analizados, pero también para los programas de formación de Comunicación Social – Periodismo existentes en la ciudad.

This project seeks to examine two related aspects: the regional sport and journalism. The main objective was to determine how such coverage is made in the newspaper Vanguardia Liberal and Frente, from content analysis, which was intended to identify the coverage on Santander sportsman activity in major regional print media. Thus, we identified the frequency, journalistic genres used, the length of notes and addressing sources of information, among others. To this end, we designer matrices categories and subcategories that facilitated the collection of information. The study was conducted during the last quarter of 2010 (September, October, November, December). The results obtained showed that the newspaper gives more coverage of sports activity is Vanguardia Liberal Santander. The Frente gives greater priority to international information. In addition, gender was identified as the most used news, while gender and chronic or interpretive reporting were less explored in that section of the newspapers during the period under review. It is worth mentioning that soccer is considered one of the major sports, but not the only one capable of being informed, as they made their appearance in the media analyzed other disciplines, which is attributed to the organization of events such as Santander Extremo, Interuniversity Games and National Children\'s intercollegiate held in Bucaramanga during the investigated period. This analysis offers a glimpse of how you are doing in covering sports in the city, which raises some recommendations for the media analyzed, but also for training programs of Social Communication - Journalism existing in the city.
